The League One side are famed for their production of young talent, and their academy system would appear to have unearthed another gem.
Saunders, the son of former Wales and Liverpool striker Dean, is earning rave reviews for his performances at U18 level and is being tipped to step up the Football League ladder in the near future.
He has netted over 30 goals in the 2013/14 campaign, helping Crewe to enjoy productive runs in the FA Youth Cup and Development League.
While the Alex are used to seeing stars of the future head for pastures new, bringing vital funds into the club in the process, they are eager to ensure that players only leave when they are ready to progress.
With that in mind, they have offered Saunders a three-year professional contract in the hope that he will resist the lure of the top flight and continue working on his game at the Alexandra Stadium.
