Swindon Town have made a bid to sign Gillingham striker Darius Henderson.Swindon Town have confirmed they have made a bid to sign Gillingham striker Darius Henderson to a permanent deal.
The former Reading hit-man has been on a month's loan with the County Ground club and has impressed the League One side with his displays.
The player was linked with a move to West Country rivals Bristol City, but Henderson could now find himself staying in Wiltshire beyond his initial four-week stay.
Swindon's acting chief executive Bob Holt confirmed he has spoken with Gills chairman Paul Scally about making Henderson's move permanent.
"Paul Scally has called back and I am very happy about that," Holt said.
"We have had discussions and will be speaking again, but it is too early to say any more at the moment."
The news comes another striker in Lloyd Opara has decided to leave The Robins after failing to settle at the club.
The former Colchester United and Cambridge United player joined Swindon in the summer from non-league side Grays Athletic.
Opara is keen to move to a club that is closer to his London home in the near future.
