Gillingham striker Mark McCammon must serve a three-match ban after losing his appeal against a red card.
McCammon was sent off during the early stages of Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Aldershot after a challenge on goalkeeper Nikki Bull.
An appeal against the decision was lodged with the Football Association after McCammon was defended by manager Mark Stimson.
But an FA hearing has not resulted in a reprieve for McCammon, who will now miss Gillingham's next three games.
He will sit out the League Two fixtures with Port Vale and Exeter City, along with the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie against Colchester United.
