Gillingham's new signing Joe Martin has praised the positive mood at the club after making his debut at the weekend.

The former Blackpool youngster appeared as a second-half substitute in the win over Macclesfield and has been impressed by the atmosphere at Priestfield so far. "I wanted to feel comfortable at a club and I liked the way Gillingham played football," Martin told the club's official website, "It's a good club. I knew the manager (Andy Hessenthaler) and I knew he'd be straight with me. "I wanted to come back down south, play football every week and work my way into the team. "When I arrived at the club the atmosphere was buzzing and I couldn't believe that results weren't going their way. The manager has kept the spirits up, the players have kept going and the mood is really good." Meanwhile, Gillingham's postponed home fixture with Rotherham has been rearranged for Tuesday February 8, kick-off 7.45pm.
