Scunthorpe's Josh Wright has declared his intention to leave the club in favour of a move down south.

Former England Under 19 star wants to move on

Scunthorpe midfielder Josh Wright has declared his intention to leave the club in favour of a move down south. The 21-year-old has been given permission by Iron manager Ian Barraclough to leave the club and it seems a summer departure is likely. Wright is being chased by some Championship sides and a few sides in League One have also expressed an interest. "I feel my time is done at Scunthorpe, I've absolutely loved it here, the staff and the fans are great to me," he told the club's official website.

South

"It's a lovely place to live and play my football. I want to try and get myself back down south where all my family are. "I wouldn't say I'm homesick but that's my preferred option. "There's no point of me lying to the club and the fans and I hope that they can respect my decision, I'm an honest person. "It's nothing against the club whatsoever or anyone at the club, it's just that I feel I've done my time at Scunthorpe."
Transfer window
He added: "I'm not desperate to get away in this transfer window; I'm willing to stay until the end of the season. "I will be giving it a million per cent until the end of the season, you can count on that. "I'm a professional and I really want this club to stay up, I've enjoyed my time here and I don't want a relegation on my CV."
