Boothroyd blasts referee

Northampton boss Aidy Boothroyd lamented a couple of crucial decisions which he felt cost his side in their 2-1 defeat to Barnet.

The recalled Adebayo Akinfenwa gave basement side Town the interval lead but Mark Byrne levelled shortly after the restart before Ricky Holmes hit the winner with his eighth goal of the campaign. Boothroyd said: "I've got a good reputation in the game because I don't have a go at referees but it was a stonewall penalty on Michael Jacobs and a blatant foul on Kelvin Langmead for the second goal. "It's not quite going for us at the moment. The first goal was our fault because we tried to play out and got caught. We've probably got the best record in the division for first-half performances but once again we didn't carry it on in the second half." He continued: "I'm ready for a fight, I knew that when I came in but I know the potential at this place. It's a low point, but you can either drop your gloves and get knocked out or put your fists up and fight back. I'm up for the fight and so are the players. "We'll keep working to find that winning formula, we'll get on with it. We must work towards getting consistent performances for 90 minutes and then we should get the results. We've had some adversity to deal with but I'm confident we can use this game to bounce back."
