Allen lauds dominant Gills

Martin Allen felt Gillingham had too much quality for League One strugglers Scunthorpe as his side handed out a 4-0 mauling.

The teams went in goalless at the break but in the second period the Gills ran riot, Matt Fish, Deon Burton, Danny Kedwell with a penalty and Adam Birchall all notching for the home side. "We expected them to be hard to beat. It was always going to be difficult to break them down," he said. "But in the second half, we had far too much passion, power, pace and quality for them. We played some great football, and once we got that ball moving round the pitch, there was only going to be one winner. "I said to the players at half time, 'let's start playing. Let's go up another notch. You can go faster, jump higher and you can go up another level'. "We made five changes to the team. I feel so lucky that we have so many players in our squad. I feel confident that they can go out and play like that."
