Jones, who joined Vale in January after leaving Sheffield Wednesday, is out of contract this summer at Vale Park.
The 26-year-old has established himself as a key player in Micky Adams' side since his arrival and he has been instrumental in their promotion to League One.
Port Vale are keen to keep hold of the talented full-back and are ready to offer him a new deal, but several clubs higher up the football pyramid are keeping tabs on Jones' contract situation.
Preston are believed to be keen on Jones, while League Two champions Gillingham are weighing up a move for the former Wolves man as they could be in the market for a new left-back with Joe Martin yet to agree a new deal at Priestfield.
