Taylor happy with Gillingham

Gillingham manager Peter Taylor was pleased to return back to Kent with a point against his former club Bradford after a 1-1 draw.

Aaron McLean gave the Bantams a 10th-minute lead but the visitors hit back with a Cody McDonald goal early in the second half to earn a 1-1 draw. Taylor took pleasure in the way his team managed to get back into the game. He said: "I was very pleased that we recovered. We didn't start particularly well. We knew Bradford would start exceptionally here at home. We were looking at least to match that, but it was a disappointing goal to concede. "At half-time we believed if we stuck together we could get back in it and I think the boys certainly did that. They worked exceptionally hard to get a goal and deserved a point. "When (Adebayo) Akinfenwa came on at half-time he was terrific. He won most headers and I don't think the centre-halves would like playing against him. His skill, his touch and his awareness was great. "I am happy with the point. Any game we play away from home a point is good. That is three matches unbeaten for us which in our position is very important. If we can keep the gap (to the bottom four) at eight points and keep knocking off the fixtures we will be over the moon."
