Port Vale keeper Mark Goodlad is set for six weeks on the sidelines due to injury.Port Vale have been dealt a blow with the news that goalkeeper Mark Goodlad is set for six weeks on the sidelines due to injury.
The keeper limped out of Vale's 1-0 defeat to Brentford last weekend and will now need at least a month to recover.
Goodlad tore a muscle at Brentford, and with the club's number one shot-stopper out of action, manager Martin Foyle decided against risking back-up keeper Jonathon Brain.
"It's unfortunate, but these things happen in football. I decided to call off the reserve game as we couldn't risk Jon getting hurt," said Foyle to the club's official website.
"At Brentford he came right out of his area to make a tackle on one of their lads and I had my hands up to my face, I could hardly look. If his timing hadn't been spot on, he would have been sent off, then we would be in big trouble.
"As it is, he did take a slight knock in the game, but will be fit for the weekend. Joe Anyon has now been brought into the squad, but I have no problems at all with that because he is a good keeper."
