The 20-year-old has caught the eye for Vale this term and was recommended to T&T coach Leo Beenhakker by special advisor Jack Warner.
Birchall's agent was contacted by Warner and a trip across to the West Indies has been pencilled in for later in the summer.
Birchall, who qualifies to play for Trinidad & Tobago through his mother, is looking forward to the chance to impress Beenhakker.
"It's just a real privilege to get a chance to try out with the Trinidad and Tobago national team and I am really looking forward to it," he told TTFF.
"To say the truth, I was a bit nervous at first when the call came but now I'm just really anxious to get down to Trinidad and start training with the rest of the boys and hopefully be able to make a contribution to the World Cup effort."
