Robin Hulbert has revealed he chose to stay at Port Vale ahead of more lucrative deals.
Returning midfielder Robin Hulbert has revealed he chose to stay at Port Vale on a short-term contract ahead of a more lucrative move to another club.
The 26-year-old played just once for The Valiants last season after twice breaking a bone in his foot.
But he has returned to pre-season training at Vale Park and has been rewarded with a new six-month deal, which could be extended at Christmas.
Hulbert is focused on the task ahead, and wants to prove his worth with a promotion-winning season in League One.
"My main aim is to get myself fit and be challenging where we want to be, at the top of the league," he told the Sentinel.
"I had offers from a couple of other clubs, which I wasn't expecting to get having been out for a year.
"They offered me longer than I have signed here, but I owe a lot to the manager, the coaching staff, the fans and the chairman.
"Repaying them is the reason I want to stay, that and the fact I think the club is going places."
