Barnsley boss brings in defensive reinforcements

Barnsley boss Mark Robins has brought in defensive duo Ryan Shotton and Carl Dickinson on loan from Stoke City. The Tykes boss has bolstered his options at the back by landing the highly-rated young duo on three-month emergency deals. Potters manager Tony Pulis has allowed the two youth-team products to join the Championship outfit to allow them to gain greater first-team experience. Dickinson has already racked up 60 outings at the Britannia Stadium and has spent previous spells on loan with Blackpool and Leeds. Shotton spent last season out on loan with Tranmere Rovers and enjoyed a similar spell with Altrincham during the previous campaign. Oakwell boss Robins is looking to lift the Tykes out of the Championship relegation zone having been appointed earlier this month following Simon Davey's dismissal.
