Taylor out to improve after new deal

Port Vale defender Lee Collins is hoping the club will approach him with the offer of a new long-term contract. Collins still has 12 months to run on his existing deal at Vale Park, but the 21-year-old has been linked with a move away from the League Two club. However, the former Wolves youngster is enjoying his time with Micky Adams' side and is keen to pledge his long-term future to the club. He told The Sentinel: "If I don't get offered a new deal I've still got a year to prove myself to the club and to the gaffer, but I'd be very happy if the club approached me. "I'm very happy at the club. I've settled in with the lads, the staff and the fans."

Need to improve

Meanwhile, Collins' team-mate Kris Taylor accepts there are areas for improvement in his game after signing a new 12-month contract. Taylor said: "You always want the security of two years, but the gaffer was straight with me by saying there are parts of my game I need to improve. "Micky has talked about my consistency because up until Christmas I was flying and playing well, but in the second half of the season I only performed in patches. "But I'm happy Micky wants to keep me here. Now I have to improve and hopefully I'll be here a lot longer."
