Chris Brandon is hopeful his impressive trial spell at Port Vale culminates in him earning a deal at the club.
Brandon has been training with Micky Adams' team following his release from hometown club Bradford City in the close-season.
The midfielder shined during friendly wins over Harborough Town and Biddulph Vics at the weekend and the 34-year-old would be keen on staying at Vale Park.
Brandon told the Stoke Sentinel: "If a deal comes along I'll obviously look at it. I came into the game at 23, so I've got plenty of years left in me.
"I'm 34, but I've still got the hunger and feel I can do a good job for somebody, given the chance.
Raring to go
"But I'm taking each day as it comes and I'll see what happens."
Brandon boasts a healthy bank of 350 career appearances to his name during a lower league career that has seen him don the colours of Torquay, Chesterfield and Huddersfield.
His switch to Bradford in 2008 proved frustrating, though, after managing just 18 league starts in 20 injury-affected months at Valley Parade.
But the veteran says he has overcome his injury problems and would relish the challenge with a new team.
He added: "It just didn't work out for me at Bradford after suffering injuries in my first season. But I'm fit and raring to go."
