Experienced midfielder close to agreeing move to Elland Road

Skysports.com understands Leeds United have opened talks with free agent Michael Brown. The 34-year-old is currently without a club after seeing his contract at Portsmouth expire at the end of last season. He is a vastly-experienced midfielder who has spent much of his career competing in the Premier League. Spells at Manchester City, Sheffield United, Tottenham, Fulham, Wigan and Portsmouth have seen him compete at the top of the game for the last 16 years.

He endured a disappointing end to his time at Fratton Park, with a clause in contract forcing cash-strapped Pompey to leave him on the sidelines. Brown is now keen to find regular football once again and could be offered the opportunity to remain in the Championship with Leeds. The Whites have been relatively quiet in the transfer market this summer, with Paul Rachubka the only fresh face added to their ranks. They are, however, closing on a deal for Brown and could have an agreement in place by Monday evening.
