Crewe boss questions why winger would want to move to Scotland

Steve Davis has urged Byron Moore to spend another season at Crewe Alexandra and has questioned why the winger would consider a move to the SPL. Moore played an important role in Crewe winning promotion to League One last season and has been offered a new two-year deal by the club. However, he has been linked with Aberdeen and Hibernian, and the Railwaymen would miss out on compensation for the 23-year-old, if he headed to Scotland. Davis believes Moore's development would be best served by another 12 months with Crewe and he is now waiting for the player to make a decision.

Advice

"We've had talks with Byron's agent and we feel we've made him a very good offer," said the Crewe boss in The Sentinel. "It's our final offer and now it's down to Byron. "He's just had his best season with us since I have been here, and if he stays in the group he will continue to improve his game. "Maybe if he goes he would be able to earn a little bit more money, but if he can carry on performing and scoring goals in League One there will be other clubs much higher up the pyramid who will be looking at him. He needs to decide. "If he moves to another club in this country we will get compensation, but we won't if he goes to Scotland. Why he would want to move to Scotland I would never know. "We are here to offer advice and I think he should stay with us for 12 months more."
