Adams shocked by Loft incident

Manager Micky Adams has told how everyone at Port Vale has been left "shocked" by the incident between captain Doug Loft and Daniel Jones.
It is alleged that Loft was last week involved in a training ground altercation with then-team mate Daniel Jones, who has since had his contract with the club terminated, as Vale prepared for their League One fixture against Notts County.
Both players were left out of the squad for the game on Saturday, which the Valiants lost 4-2, and after the match at Meadow Lane Adams revealed the club were conducting an internal investigation into the incident.
As a result of that investigation Jones has had the remaining year of his contract cancelled.
Loft suffered severe facial injuries in the altercation and has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
On Tuesday morning one tabloid newspaper printed a photograph of Loft's face under the headline 'disfigured' and went on to say that he had suffered broken bones in his nose, jaw and cheek.
Asked about what happened, Adams told Sky Sports News: "I don't want to go into the details of the incident other than to say as a football club we were shocked by it.
"It is different to anything that I have seen before because of the extent of it, but training ground incidents happen unfortunately. There is a lot of emotion and these things can happen.
"I can't really say too much more than that we are disappointed as a club that it has happened. But for legal reasons I can't say too much.
"He (Loft) is out for the rest of the season it is disappointing because he has had an outstanding season. He is disappointed as well because he is out of contract in the summer."
Asked if Loft would be taking legal proceedings against Jones, Adams added: "That's not down to me. We as a football club have taken our stance and we want to draw a line under it."
