Northampton chairman Kelvin Thomas is searching for a new manager to follow the blueprint left by former boss Chris Wilder.

Wilder returned to former club Sheffield United to succeed the sacked Nigel Adkins last week after guiding the Cobblers to the Sky Bet League Two title with four games left to play.

"We're not looking for someone to come in and rip everything up and start again, we've got a good structure here and we're not believers in ripping things up that are working," Thomas told the club's official website.

"We've got a squad here that has just got promoted and won the league with 99 points and with almost a month to spare.

"This isn't a squad that needs that much work but of course we will look to improve upon what we have already got and we would have done that anyway with Chris here.

"We will look to improve certain positions and as we know players come and go.

"We will only be looking to tweak here and there and trying to get success that way."
