Cobbler linked with Bantams switch

NORTHAMPTON TOWN defender Richard Hope has been linked with a move to Bradford City.

The highly-rated stopper was one of the ten out-of-contract players that The Cobblers decided against retaining, although Hope had already decided to depart.

The former Blackburn Rovers youngster is now believed to be in talks with a number of clubs about his future, including The Bantams.

Hope is a firm fans' favourite at The Sixfields Stadium and many have expressed their disappointment at his imminent departure.

On his destiny Hope said: "I am just looking to see what happens.

"I am confident something can be resolved soon."

Town confirmed ten names - including Hope - that would not be offered new terms and decisions have yet to be made on another two.

The other nine players who are leaving are: Chris Marsh, Duncan Spedding, John Frain, Paul McGregor, Marco Gabbiadini, Gerard Lavin, Nathan Abbey, Daryl Burgess and Jerry Gill.

The club have yet to decide on the futures of Greg Lincoln and Brent Rahim.

"I would like to thank all ten players for their efforts and now our fate has been decided I felt it best to make this early decision," said manager Martin Wilkinson.

"We need to rebuild and move on and I hope all of these players get fixed up with new clubs.

"I would like to thank them for their efforts here and wish them every success for the future."
