Striker signs while defender leaves Ramon Sanchez
Former Northampton forward Ikechi Anya has completed a surprise move to Primera Liga outfit Sevilla.
Anya joined Stuart Gray's side on a short-term deal from Glenn Hoddle's Academy, a Spanish-based scheme aimed at offering players released by football clubs in England another chance to become professionals, last March.
The 21-year-old was a hit with the Cobblers, scoring three goals in six starts, despite the club suffering relegation from League One.
Gray was keen to re-sign Anya on a permanent deal but he has instead joined the team who finished third in Spain last season and will take part in the UEFA Champions League.
Anya said: "I am really pleased to be going to such a great club as Sevilla and one with such a strong history. My goal was always to get back into the game."
Meanwhile, Sevilla have announced that they have sold Colombian defender Aquivaldo Mosquera to Mexican club America.
The 28-year-old moved to Ramon Sanchez in 2007 and still had three seasons left on his contract, but he had failed to earn a regular place in the first team.
He told Marca: "I am sad to leave because we really liked the city and the people."
