Northampton Town have signed central defender Chris McCready.
McCready has agreed a two-year contract following a successful trial period at Sixfields.
The 27-year-old former Tranmere man left Crewe at the end of last season, bringing an end to his second spell at Gresty Road.
"Chris has impressed us during pre-season," said Town boss Stuart Gray. "He is a dominant central defender who has handled some quality strikers well during our pre-season games.
"He has a good pedigree and I know he will prove a good addition to the squad. He is a good age for a central defender and a player who we know will fit in well in the dressing room here.
"I felt we needed another senior central defender and he will increase both the competition and options we have at the back."
Northampton have also agreed terms to keep trialist Seb Harris until at least the end of December.
Gray said: "We have decided to take Seb for a six-month period to have a better look at him.
"He is very raw, but he is full of energy and has plenty of enthusiasm. He has caught our eye with his displays in training.
"He has a lot of good attributes, he has pace and is good in the air and with day in, day out coaching and training here, we think he will improve."
Harris told Town's official website: "Hopefully I can make it last a little longer this time and get through to January. It's great to be back, though, and I'm really looking forward to the challenge ahead.
"It's a lovely club to come back to and you just have to look around at the facilities here. I can't wait to get cracking in training and hopefully get my chance in the first team."
