Former Carlisle player Evan Horwood has issued hometown club Hartlepool with a 'come and get me plea'.
Horwood found himself without a club this week after Carlisle manager Greg Abbott opted not to renew the 24-year-old's contract.
The defender made 41 appearances for the Cumbrian outfit during the campaign but was one of 13 men allowed to leave Brunton Park.
And the former Sheffield United man has asked manager Chris Turner to offer him a chance to prove his worth at Victoria Park.
Horwood told the
Sunderland Echo: "I want to get my future sorted and my agent has said there are a few clubs interested, but I would definitely be interested in signing for Hartlepool.
"I was a bit gutted and shocked not to at least be offered a contract at Carlisle, but the manager did not like me and wants to bring in his own players."
Released
Meanwhile, Pools have announced seven players have been released after the club escaped relegation from League One.
Julian Cherel, Ben Clark, Mark Cook, Ritchie Jones, Alan Power, Jonny Rowell and Matty Tymon have not been offered new deals.
But James Brown, Sam Collis, Billy Greulich, Ritchie Humphreys and Antony Sweeney will remain with Turner's team for another season.
United have also offered deals to youngsters Billy Blackford, Paul Johnson, Callum Martin and Dylan Purvis.
