Jalal's Cherries future uncertain

Goalkeeper Shwan Jalal would like to stay at Bournemouth but chairman Eddie Mitchell says they may have to show him the door.

Jalal turned down a new contract offer during the summer and has since been a spectator on the bench after Bournemouth signed Darryl Flahavan. Jalal told BBC Radio Solent: "I never asked to leave Bournemouth. I never once hinted that I'm not interested in staying. I just felt that contract that was being offered wasn't agreeable to me. "I haven't spoken to the club any further about staying. To me the door isn't closed, it's from the chairman's side that the talks are unlikely to re-open." Mitchell acknowledged that keeping both Jalal and Flahavan was not realistic, telling the Daily Echo: "In an ideal world, we would like to keep both of them to compete for a place, but we don't live in an ideal world. "We offered Shwan a considerable amount of money to sign for another year and he was advised not to take it. I'm both sad and disappointed about the situation because he's a great goalkeeper."
