Northampton have signed experienced goalkeeper Matt Duke on loan from Bradford for the remainder of the season.

Duke has been brought to Sixfields following injuries to Shane Higgs and more recently Chris Weale. The 34-year-old, who joined the Bantams last summer after leaving Championship side Hull, will go straight into the Northampton squad to face Macclesfield on Tuesday night. "I'm delighted that Matt has joined us," said Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd. "Matt is a very good goalkeeper, he's played in the Premier League and he has worked with (Northampton goalkeeping coach) Tim Flowers before. "Tim speaks very highly of him and I've come across him a few times when my teams have played against him in the past. I think he's exactly what we need and I'm extremely pleased to have signed a player of Matt's calibre. "In terms of character I think goalkeeper is the most important position on the pitch and particularly when a team is under pressure you need someone who has been around a bit and who can lead by example. Matt brings all those things to the team and I'm really pleased to have him on board."
