David Wagner believes his side's start to the season is no more than they deserve

Huddersfield manager David Wagner has seen enough in his team’s first two games to give him confidence they can compete in the Premier League.

The newly-promoted side have gained maximum points and are yet to concede a goal as they sit second in the table, but Wagner knows they have more to learn.

Huddersfield's first season in the top flight in 45 years started with a 3-0 win at Crystal Palace and they backed up that performance with a 1-0 home win over Newcastle on Sunday.

Despite the strong start, Wagner believes it will take more than momentum to carry them through the season.

"Every single game helps us to learn, to improve, and to get more experience," said Wagner.

"With the experience we've got now after these two games, we can look forward, even if we know this is still a big, big, difficult task we have in front of us.

"The points we have on the table so far are not a fluke, they are well-deserved points.

With the transfer window set to close at the end of the month, Wagner did not rule out bringing in more new faces, but stressed he was keen to give all his players a chance to perform.

"I like to be totally open-minded and give everybody the chance to show how capable he is in the Premier League," said Wagner.

"I have a clearer picture than I had before the first two games and I will get the best picture after the next two games before the window closes and then we can decide what we have to do, but my picture is clearer now."
