Grayson to land defender on free transfer

Sky Sports understands former Nottingham Forest defender Joel Lynch is undergoing a medical at Huddersfield. Lynch is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract earlier this summer. He initially joined Forest on loan from Brighton in 2008 before making the move permanent a year later. Lynch established himself as a key player during his time at the City Ground and news of his departure will come as a blow. A number of clubs have expressed an interest in Lynch, but Huddersfield are in pole position to land the versatile defender. Lynch is currently holding talks with the Terriers and they hope to tie up a deal for the 24-year-old in the next 24 hours. Huddersfield boss Simon Grayson has been busy in the transfer market so far this summer and he sees Lynch as a key addition to his squad.
