Clarke pleased by start to season

Huddersfield Towns James Vaughan is congratulated on scoring his team's first goal during the Sky Bet Championship match at the John Smith's Stadium, Huddersfield.

Huddersfield captain Peter Clarke has hailed the role James Vaughan has played in the club's good start to the Sky Bet Championship season.

Huddersfield host Blackpool on Friday night, live on Sky Sports 1HD, and Town captain Clarke is hoping his side can build on their positive start with another three points against one of his former clubs. He told Sky Sports News Radio's Football League Hour: "We've started brightly, we've played some good stuff, we're pleased with the performances, and we're higher up the league than we finished last year which is obviously the main aim for the season. We've had a positive start. "I had good times at Blackpool but I love where I am now. It's a good club with great people involved so my sole aim will be to come away with three points." Vaughan, meanwhile, has already scored nine goals for Town this season, but Clarke says there is far more to the former Everton youngster's game. "He's started the season where he left off last time, in really good goalscoring form, but the rest of his game is very good," Clarke said. "Playing against him in training he's a nightmare. His work ethic is terrific, he's a real nuisance to the opposition, and to have someone of that ilk in your side is brilliant. "You look up the pitch and you know he's going to get you goals, he's going to work hard. He's got a lot of qualities and I'm thankful he's in a blue and white shirt and not playing against me."
