The 32-year-old centre-half will drop into the free agent pool this summer once his contract at the John Smith's Stadium expires.
With no fresh terms tabled, Clarke is readying himself for a first change of scenery since 2009.
He admits to having enjoyed every one of his 223 appearances for Huddersfield, having reached that mark in a home date with Leicester City on Saturday, but appreciates that the time has come to move on and explore other opportunities.
Clarke said in the Huddersfield Examiner: "I suppose times move on and it's one of those things.
"We had a conversation as far back as January, so I think that's my last home game in blue and white stripes.
"I'd like to thank the fans for the support I've had.
"I've thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my time here and I'll leave with fantastic memories."
Pressed on what his future holds, Clarke added: "There have been a few little bits of interest, but it's still early.
"There's still plenty of football left in me and I want to keep going as long as possible.
"I'd certainly like to play in the Championship for as long as possible but, at the same time, I can't up sticks and move my wife and kids too far.
"It's about being happy both professionally and personally."
