Brighton defender Adam El-Abd has put pen-to-paper on a new two-year deal.

The Seagulls stopper's current contract was set to expire in the summer but he has now decided to pledge his long-term future to the Championship outfit.

El-Abd has made 20 starts for Brighton thus far this term and has established himself as a key player in manager Mark McGhee's side.

The player is believed to be delighted at having his future settled and is now concentrating his efforts on keeping the club in The Championship.

Brighton are currently firmly embroiled in the battle to beat the drop in 23rd place in the table and five points adrift of Sheffield Wednesday in the safety zone.
