Poyet wants winger to stay

Brighton manager Gus Poyet wants to extend Kazenga LuaLua's loan spell from Newcastle until the end of the season.

The winger, who came off the bench to score in Albion's 4-0 win at Charlton on Saturday, is due to go back to parent club Newcastle in January. "We rested LuaLua as we like to keep him for when we think he is needed," said Poyet. "He came on for the last 20 minutes and had a massive impact - was almost man of the match. "We cannot control what happens in January but he looks happy even when he is not playing. "He loves it here, so it will be tough for him and very tough with us if we did lose him. Hopefully Newcastle can see that."
