Striker should be fit for Brighton's game at Bristol City

Gus Poyet is hoping Craig Mackail-Smith will be fit for Brighton & Hove Albion's game against Bristol City at the weekend. Mackail-Smith has been forced to pull out of Scotland's squad to face Lithuania on Tuesday night with a back injury, having also missed the 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic. He is now receiving treatment on the problem and Seagulls boss Poyet feels the striker should be ready for Saturday's trip to Ashton Gate. Poyet told The Argus: "It was a precaution originally for Saturday, then he was sent back when they knew there was no chance of him recovering for Tuesday. "It's not a muscle but his back is really stiff. I think by Wednesday or Thursday he is going to be all right to train with us, if it doesn't get worse." Brighton also have concerns over fellow striker Will Hoskins, who has been hindered by a recurring abductor muscle injury. "It was getting better and then he felt a little bit uncomfortable," added Poyet. "Now it is getting better again but there is no date when we can confirm he will be back."
