Defender poised to quit Fratton Park

Sky Sports understands Nottingham Forest are in talks with Portsmouth over a deal to sign defender Greg Halford. Halford is certain to leave crisis-club Pompey this summer after he was left out of the club's tour to Spain in order to push through a sale. The club's administrators warned on Wednesday that they will go out of business on August 10th if the remaining senior first-team players do not agree to transfers or sign wage-compromise deals. New Forest boss Sean O'Driscoll is believed to have targeted the former Colchester United youngster as he begins his task of re-building the club. O'Driscoll, who has already added Adlene Guedioura to his ranks, is keen to bolster his defence ahead of the new campaign. Stoke City stopper Danny Collins has also moved to the City Ground while Ipswich Town's Damien Delaney is believed to be on the club's radar. Halford appears to be high on O'Driscoll's wanted list, with the club understood to have started negotiations to take the 27-year-old to Nottingham.
