Orient release Akinfenwa

Leyton Orient have released striker Abebayo Akinfenwa after his month's contract with the club came to an end.

The former Boston United hit-man joined on a short-term contract in November, however The O's already have four strikers on their books.

Akinfenwa made two substitute appearances during his Brisbane Road stay and earned manager Martin Ling's (pictured) praise for his work in training.

"Now we've got our four main strikers fit it's very difficult to carry an extra one," he said.

"Bayo did okay in the reserve games and he worked very hard in training.

"He said he loved the month and it was the most professional club he's ever worked at. I wish him all the best in his career for the rest of his season and beyond."
