Slade backing Reed to shine

Leyton Orient manager Russell Slade hopes Adam Reed can fill the void left by former skipper Stephen Dawson's departure from the club.

Dawson's January move to Barnsley has left a hole in Slade's midfield but Reed, who joined the O's on loan from Sunderland last week, put in an eye-catching display on his debut in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Tranmere. "I thought Adam was excellent," said Slade. "His energy in midfield, breaking forward, is something I have missed with Dawson going so to get somebody back in his shoes who can do that was pleasing. "He made tackles and kept the ball moving. For someone who is only 20 and has had a limited amount of first-team appearances, I thought it was an excellent display."
