Slade shelves talk of play-offs

Russell Slade played down Leyton Orient's play-off chances after they moved to within six points of a top-six place.

The O's overcame struggling Portsmouth with a goal from on-loan Millwall striker Shaun Batt, earning them a 1-0 win over determined opposition who were unfortunate to leave London without anything to show for their endeavours. "We are not talking about the play-offs, we are just talking about utilising the minutes that we've got left this season - which is 720 - and making sure we don't waste any of them," said Slade. "We obviously want to win as many games as we can and do our very best. It's possibly six games that we would need to win, which is a real tall order, and we will have to be better than we were here if we are going to do that. "It's nice that we are talking about the top-end of the table rather than the bottom end, though. "We've had a lot of games recently and we've had to shuffle the pack around but all credit to the boys, we got the result. We've had a few injuries and so to secure the points under the circumstances with a clean sheet is a good achievement. "I think we've only conceded two goals in the last five games and we keep nicking a goal which is important. On another day, Portsmouth could have scored in each half but perhaps the fortune was with us for a change."
