The injury was sustained in a clash with Southend forward Mark Rawle after just twenty minutes of the FA Cup second round replay.
The clubs website revealed that after a scan the full extent of the injury was known and the shot stopper is expected to be out for between four to six weeks.
It is a bitter blow for the player who was making his comeback from injury on the night.
On loan Portsmouth keeper Chris Tardif will take over first team duties for the Cherries next game at home to Hull on Saturday.
