The Hatters have been pursuing the Northern Ireland international in recent weeks and had one bid rejected by The Cherries last month for the 23-year-old.
However, it looks like manager Sammy McIlroy has convinced his fellow countryman to move north to Stockport for next season, despite receiving fresh terms from the South Coast outfit.
Bournemouth chairman Peter Phillips, meanwhile, stated on his club's official website that they may have to go to a tribunal to receive a suitable transfer fee for Feeney.
Despite being out of contract, Feeney cannot leave The Cherries on a Bosman free as he is under 24 years of age.
"It is now probable that in the absence of an acceptable offer of compensation from Stockport, that the matter of the transfer fee will go to tribunal," Phillips said in a statement.
Meanwhile, reports on the South Coast suggest that winger Wade Elliott is close to agreeing new terms with the Dean Court club.
