Portsmouth manager Steve Cotterill has confirmed he is considering handing goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan a contract.
Flahavan has been training with Pompey for the past fortnight as he searches for a new club following his departure from Crystal Palace.
The keeper has impressed Cotterill and may secure a deal at Fratton Park if youngster Liam O'Brien heads out on loan.
"He's been here for a couple of weeks," Cotterill told The News. "He's living 15 minutes away.
"Darryl's a Portsmouth fan through and through. He's a great lad. He's come in and joined in training with all the other boys.
"There's a chance of something happening, maybe. It depends what happens with Liam O'Brien.
"He wants to go out on loan. That is something I would definitely let him do. If that happens it certainly brings Flav into the equation."
The 31-year-old's brother Aaron made more than 100 appearances for Pompey before he died in a car accident in 2001.
