Foxes mulled over a bid for their former flying winger

Sven Goran Eriksson admitted he contemplated re-signing former winger Max Gradel for Leicester. The 23-year-old had been a revelation at Elland Road since he signed for them just 18 months ago in a £200,000 deal. In 41 starts, the Ivory international managed to plunder 18 goals, which alerted French club St Etienne to his talent.

The Ligue 1 side signed the wide player on a four-year deal but it was a potential deal that also registered with the former England boss. "He is one who we discussed but there were a lot of clubs who had him on a so-called list," Eriksson told the Leicester Mercury. "He was one for us, possibly, along with many others."

Meanwhile, the Foxes have reached an agreement with Yann Kermorgant to cancel the striker's contract with immediate effect. Kermorgant, 29, joined the club in the summer of 2009 and made 25 appearances for the club which only yielded one goal. He was sent on loan to Ligue 1 side Arles-Avignon last term before returning for pre-season training at Leicester this season.
