Villa target may decide to stay at Middlesbrough

Sky Sports understands that Joe Bennett is unsure whether to quit Middlesbrough this summer for the Premier League. The 22-year-old is more than settled at the club where he has progressed through the ranks, and he still has three years left on his current deal at The Riverside. Premier League side Aston Villa are one of a number of clubs who have been tracking his progress closely and, as Sky Sports exclusively revealed on Tuesday, they have now lodged a firm offer. Whilst Boro are considering the deal, Bennett himself appears far from convinced that leaving the North East club is the best thing for his career at this point. Paul Lambert and Tony Mowbray have both confirmed talks are ongoing, but they may come to a halt if Bennett announces his intention to stay with Boro. Mowbray also confirmed after Boro's Capital One Cup win at Gillingham on Tuesday night that he is in no rush to sell Bennett.
