Transfer news: Bournemouth block Derby bids for Simon Francis

Sky Sports understands that Bournemouth have knocked back two bids from Derby County for defender Simon Francis.

The 29-year-old has spent the last two-and-a-half years with the Cherries, helping them into the Sky Bet Championship.

He was among those to impress for Eddie Howe’s men in the second tier last season as they staged a late surge for a top-six finish.

His efforts have been noted by Bournemouth’s rivals, with interest expected during the summer transfer window.

Derby have moved quickly to try and push a deal through, but have been unsuccessful in their attempts so far.

Steve McClaren is looking to piece together a squad at the iPro Stadium that can push for a return to the Premier League, having come unstuck in the 2013/14 play-off final.
