Sky Bet Championship: Artur Boruc staying with Bournemouth

Southampton goalkeeper Artur Boruc will remain with Bournemouth on loan until the end of the season.

Boruc has made a significant impact since his arrival at the Sky Bet Championship club in late September, signing just as the Cherries launched their climb towards the top of the table.

The former Celtic stopper is yet to suffer defeat in league action with his only reverse having come in the Capital One Cup quarter-final loss at the hands of Premier League side Liverpool at the Goldsands Stadium in December.

His deal will be extended on the morning of January 3, meaning he will miss the third round FA Cup clash with Rotherham, but Boruc will be available should Bournemouth progress to the later rounds of that competition.

"I can see that everyone at this club believes in the things they're doing," he told the club's official website. "If you believe and you work your socks off to make your dreams come true, it can happen.

"I can see it in this team and everybody in the club is heading in the same direction.

"I'm pleased I'm here and that I'm part of a great team - I can say that - and that's why I'm staying until the end of the season."

Eddie Howe's side are unbeaten in the league since September 30 and they have a one-point lead over Ipswich Town going into the new year, after a run of 11 wins and three draws in their last 14 games.
