Bournemouth have bid for Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray

Bournemouth have made a bid for Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray, according to Sky sources.

Eddie Howe is looking to improve his options up front after already adding St Etienne winger Max Gradel, Middlesbrough forward Lee Tomlin, Ipswich defender Tyrone Mings and French defender Sylvain Distin from Everton to his squad this summer.

Murray was an impact player for the Eagles last season after returning from a loan spell at Reading and netted seven times in just 17 Premier League appearances.

The signing of Connor Wickham from Sunderland for around £9m and the arrival of highly-rated Patrick Bamford on loan from Chelsea have led to increased competition for places up front for Palace.

Pardew stated earlier this week he had no desire to add any more players to his squad other than Wolves attacking midfielder Bakary Sako, who is thought to be close to completing his move to Palace.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ at Wednesday's Premier League launch, Pardew said: "I'd like to think I'd add one today. If we can get him over the line he'll be an exciting player.
