Bournemouth U21 coach Stephen Purches is looking forward to having Italy youth international Alessandro Cannataro in his squad.

Cannataro, 20, has joined the Cherries on a one-year contract, subject to international clearance, and will be part of the club's U21 squad after spending the past two weeks on trial, during which he featured in three games against Reading AFC, Wimbledon and Gillingham.

The former Inter Milan midfielder, who also had a trial with Claudio Ranieri's Leicester, will join fellow recent signings Filippo Costa, also of Italy, and Argentine Tomas Andrade in the U21s.

Purches told the Daily Echo: "Alessandro is very composed and reads the game well.

"He is a good footballer with an excellent pedigree and wouldn't have been at Inter Milan for that amount of time and captained their U19s if he wasn't.

"He is coming in to give me another player to work with and will bolster the group. Hopefully he will have a positive impact on everybody.

"The younger players coming in to train with us can look at how he plays and can learn from him."
