Plymouth extended their lead at the top of League Two with a hard-fought 3-1 victory at Newport as Graham Westley's first home game in charge of the bottom club ended in defeat.
Graham Carey scored a brace of penalties for the visitors, with home goalkeeper Chris Day sent off after giving away the first spot-kick on 38 minutes. Jon Parkin brought Newport level after 50 minutes, but Jordan Slew made sure of all three points 12 minutes from time.
Carlisle moved up to second by extending their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-1 win at Stevenage.
