Cheltenham Town striker Kayode Odejayi has had a clause of a one-year contract extension activated.The former Bristol City and Forest Green Rovers hit-man penned a 12-month deal back in the summer.
A clause in that deal, however, has allowed Odejayi to extend his contract to the summer of 2007 after he appeared in a set number of matches for the League Two club.
With the 23-year-old having appeared in 28 games for John Ward's side this season, the situation has automatically extended his Whaddon Road contract for another year.
Ward was delighted for the striker, who he feels is playing a key role for the Gloucestershire outfit this season.
"I look at how he contributes to the team in a game when he doesn't score," John Ward told the Western Daily Press.
"We have stressed to him that he doesn't have to score a goal in every game or be the best player to make a contribution.
"He has a lot to offer because he can run like the wind, he has a good shot and he is strong as we saw the other night when he got the first goal at Oxford."
