Ankle blow for Duff

Cheltenham Town centre back Shane Duff is facing up to six weeks on the sidelines.

Cheltenham Town centre back Shane Duff is facing up to six weeks on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

The 23-year-old's foot has been placed in a protective boot for the next three weeks and will need another three weeks of rehabilitation.

The decision to sideline Duff comes after the defender missed eight of the club's last nine matches with the problem, with Robins boss John Ward left disappointed by the news.

"Shane has to keep the boot on for the majority of 24 hours a day," Ward told the Gloucestershire Echo.

"The strain is above the ankle and it's a real shame."

Duff has been joined by midfielder Jamie Victory in being a long-term injury casualty at Whaddon Road.

The 30-year-old underwent an operation to treat a muscular problem in his pelvic region, with his return also set for six weeks from now.
