The 35-year-old has turned down the offer of a new contract with The Bantams and is set to end his five-year spell with the West Yorkshire outfit.
The former Coventry City and Sheffield Wednesday player will join Summerbee, Craig Armstrong and Wayne Jacobs in heading through the Valley Parade exit door before the start of next season.
"Peter was offered a contract, but we haven't been able to come to any agreement," manager Colin Todd told the Telegraph & Argus.
"I've got my job to do at this club and people have to look elsewhere.
"Summerbee thinks he can get better money somewhere else and Peter probably feels the same.
"We have limits to how far we can go and I have a budget to work with."
