The Jamaican international will miss the next month of action after sustaining the injury in last month's Yorkshire derby with Rotherham United.
The Caribbean custodian's absence has seen summer signing Russell Howarth take over the number one jersey at Valley Parade.
Despite the setback, Ricketts is determined to return to action for both club and country in the near future.
"It is very frustrating for me - finally getting my chance and then getting injured," Ricketts told the Bradford Telegraph & Argus.
"I may be out for another month because the bone in my foot is fractured.
"It is not nice being on the sidelines but I am used to it - I was watching for most of last season when Paul Henderson was the number one. I just hope that it doesn't happen again.
"It is more of a problem now because I know that I would be playing if I had not got injured but I am determined to get my place back again once I am fit again."
Meanwhile, the Bradford pair of defender Jake Wright and striker Danny Forrest have joined Conference side Halifax Town on loan.
Wright joins The Shaymen for a month, while Forrest has linked up with West Yorkshire club for the rest of the season.
